Bus Topology
Every workstation is connected to main cable which is called bus. The effect is that each workstation is directly connected to every workstation in the network. Bus topology is mostly reliable and don't require server, and is fast because all information goes through back bone cable. however if that goes down then, again, entire network goes down.

Star Network Topology
most popular topology in now days. In center we got central computer or server, which is connected to the switch. Therefore every device, printer etc. are also connected to this switch. The great thing about this topology is that is extremely fast, in fact is secure because thanks of switch you can set different security level to different user. the only thing that is bad about it is the price.

Ring Network Topology
all workstations are connected in closed loop configuration. Adjacent pairs of workstations are directly connected. this topology it seems to be hardly seen anymore. the reason for this is simple, because is extremely bad; incredible slow, fantastically unreliable. the only good thing is that is cheap, and probably that is the reason why this topology still is.
Token Ring Network Topology
It is exactly the same, except that the signal travels only one way. This makes even wears than normal Ring Network Topology, and this is because if signal travels only one way it makes the network incredible slow, beside if one PC is shut or even broke then the signal doesn't go further so basically the network is down.
